Try avoiding saturated fats, since they aren't heart-healthy. Both before and after working out, you should have something to eat. If you are just getting started, anything with lots of protein will work. Once you are further along with you muscle-building efforts, you can be more careful about meal planning and measuring protein. Be sure that your training regimen coincides with your goals. It gets boring to do the same exercises daily, but it can help you see how you are progressing. Once you have developed a core of regular exercises, you can add and rotate some others to keep from getting too bored.
