It is OK to take a few short-cuts when weight lifting. If you use more of your body to increase the amount of reps, you improve your workout's effectiveness. Don't do this too much though. Work hard so that your rep speed is controlled. Never allow your form to be compromised. Don't overexercise - only workout three or four times per week. If your workouts are providing an appropriate challenge, then your body is going to need restful periods to repair and recuperate in between exercise sessions.
