Dead lifts, squats and bench presses are important because they build bulk. Not only do these exercises add bulk, but they condition your body and improve your strength. Vary these exercises regularly. If you are trying to build large muscles, do not attempt it while doing any form of intense cardio training. Although a certain amount of cardio is beneficial for everyone, bulking up at the same time that you are doing really intense cardiovascular work will be difficult, if not impossible. If your focus is to build muscle, concentrate on strength-training. Compound exercises will help you develop your muscle mass. These exercises work multiple muscle groups simultaneously. For instance, bench pressing helps you develop your shoulders, chest and your triceps. Many people begin increasing their protein intake immediately upon beginning a program to build muscle which is a mistake. Doing so can mean a boost in calories consumed, and if these are not getting burned off by the exercise, fat can start forming. Instead, gradually increase your protein intake by about a hundred calories every two days.
